About us

Robinsons Solicitors was established in 2006 by the well known solicitor John Robinson. John had worked his whole life to provide legal aid to the people of Hull who needed it most. He gained a reputation for being Hull’s lawyer for the people, and today Robinson’s Solicitors is based in the same office John worked so tirelessly in all those years ago.

As his nephew, Michael has continued John's legacy since he passed, building the team to the three established solicitors, various support staff and supporting the community in their thousands through legal aid, support and advice.

Michael Robinson - Senior Solicitor, Managing Director

Michael is Hull born and bred. He has a legal background, with several members of his family being successful solicitors and barristers. Of course, Michael’s biggest influence was his late Uncle John Robinson, the founder of this firm. John sadly passed away in November 2016, however Michael has worked hard to ensure that the legacy of his Uncle lives on through Robinson's Solicitors and the fair representation of local people in criminal proceedings.

Michael qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and joined Robinson's Solicitors soon after. Michael has specialised in criminal law throughout his 13 year career and as such he has developed a wealth of knowledge in the field of criminal defence work. Michael has the benefit of learning from the best in respect of his training, and his Uncle was both his teacher and mentor.

As the head of Robinson's Solicitors, Michael handles a general case load dealing with clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Court. He represents clients in a wide range of cases, from road traffic offences to murder. Michael will regularly represent clients at trial in the Magistrates Court and he has a reputation for his ability to interact well with people from a variety of backgrounds. He has extensive experience in cases involving youths and vulnerable persons as clients, and Michael has the ability to utilise his skills to afford these people the best representation at court.

Michael is renowned for quickly building up rapport and trust with his clients and he has the ability to instinctively recognise the core issues of every case. Michael provides clear and concise advice to his clients, and he will talk through all aspects of the case with them, to ensure that they fully understand the court process. Michael is always available to meet with clients in conference and to discuss their case.
